Fritt Ukraina, in close cooperation with People’s Self-Defence Lviv, has assisted in the procurement of 20 heavy-duty trucks for Ukrainian military units. The value of the delivery exceeds 18 million Ukrainian hryvnia, or around 4.3 million Norwegian kroner.

The trucks are vehicles previously used by the Dutch Armed Forces. Through the partnership between Fritt Ukraina and People’s Self-Defence Lviv, the vehicles have been purchased, transported to Ukraine, and handed over to operational military units.

The delivery is part of a major fundraising campaign led by Horn, CentraGruppen, Ringnes and several Norwegian partners under the ODINS RAVNER umbrella. This enables us to deliver critical capacity directly to the front lines.

Transporting supplies and equipment

The 20 trucks are essential to the daily logistics of Ukrainian military units. As “workhorses in the field,” they transport supplies, equipment, ammunition and spare parts right up to the front line, withstand challenging conditions, and are also used for evacuating vehicles and materiel as well as supporting engineering units.

This type of capacity is often in short supply, making the trucks an important contribution from Norwegian supporters that strengthens the mobility and efficiency of the units defending Ukraine.

Collaboration that makes an impact

This collaboration shows how civilian engagement, combined with funding from international partners, can deliver direct support to the armed forces’ operations.

The 20 trucks are part of the Odins Ravner project, and it has taken many months to get this delivery in place.

“A big thank you to Irene Avetisian and People’s Self-Defence Lviv, who have done an invaluable job acquiring the trucks, getting them serviced and preparing them for use,” says Fritt Ukraina’s Secretary General, Natalia Golis.

“Getting all of these delivered now stands as a clear result of this joint effort and has both concrete and strategic significance,” she adds.
