Fritt Ukraina recently completed a delivery of 300 Starlink terminals to Ukraine’s military intelligence service, HUR.

This delivery was part of Fritt Ukraina’s transport number 90, which went east to Slovyansk and Kyiv to follow up with our friends in the field.
HUR, or Hlavne Upravlinnja Rozvidky, is Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Military Intelligence.
The agency plays a central role in Ukraine’s defense efforts, responsible for gathering, analyzing and using intelligence that contributes to protecting the country.
HUR is also actively engaged in detecting and countering Russian attacks both on the battlefield and in the information domain. In addition, HUR has a number of highly effective drone units that Fritt Ukraina cooperates with.
Starlink – a lifeline in the war
Starlink is a satellite-based internet system developed by SpaceX. Unlike traditional infrastructure, Starlink operates independently of cell towers and cables, and can provide stable and secure internet access almost anywhere.

All HUR units that operate on the move rely on Starlink. It enables Ukrainian forces to maintain communication, coordinate movements, and share information in real time — even when the enemy attempts to disrupt cellular networks and power supplies. Starlink is therefore not merely an add-on, but an integrated part of the defense effort and an essential requirement for effective communication.
A key strength of Starlink is its user-friendliness: the terminals are easy to set up and can be used without specialist expertise.
This is the result of continuous development driven by millions of users worldwide. The large user base also helps to lower costs, making the technology accessible at scale — including for Ukraine.
“This is not just technology — it is a lifeline. Starlink makes it possible to maintain contact and plan operations in a war situation where information flow is crucial,” says Natalia Golis, Secretary General of Fritt Ukraina.

Additional contributions in the same transport
In addition to the 300 Starlink terminals, the transport also included 42 drones and special-ordered welding equipment for Army Aviation.
One of the participants on the trip was Public Prosecutor Reidar Bruusgaard, and part of the program included meetings with representatives from the Ukrainian justice system. The discussions focused on what we in Norway can learn from Ukraine’s experiences with preparedness and maintaining legal institutions during war.
