Five new excavators from Fritt Ukraina are now supporting defense efforts and infrastructure development on the front lines.

In close cooperation with Norwegian donors, Fritt Ukraina has recently contributed to the acquisition of five excavators with a total value exceeding NOK 1.7 million (UAH 6.4 million).
The donation has been facilitated through our long-standing partner, People’s Self Defence Lviv, who are now putting the machines to use in several critical frontline operations.
Digging trenches and fortifications
The excavators will be used for building fortifications, establishing underground command posts, and expanding infrastructure in war-affected areas.
“There is a clear and pressing need for new excavators, something we’ve seen firsthand during our deliveries to Donetsk Oblast,” says Secretary General Natalia Golis.
There, trenches are being dug daily and new defensive positions are constantly being prepared.

A total of eight excavators delivered so far
The first three machines were delivered in December. So far, Fritt Ukraina has delivered a total of eight excavators.
“We recently met with the Territorial Defence in Kyiv,” Golis explains. “They have reported a need for as many as 100 machines. So far, we’ve delivered three to them, and the sheer scale of the demand highlights how important each and every excavator is for strengthening and securing the front line.”
Grateful for the support
“This equipment will make a huge difference in both the efficiency and safety of the work being done near the front lines. We are grateful for the continued support from our Norwegian partners,” writes People’s Self Defence Lviv in a Facebook post.
This is not the first time Fritt Ukraina has contributed excavators to Ukraine’s defense efforts. The machines have been nicknamed “magic” because of the significant impact they have in demanding conditions.
Do you know someone who has an unused excavator just standing around? Now you know where it’s needed.
