Earlier this autumn, Fritt Ukraina received a request to provide excavators. In a short amount of time, the necessary funding was secured. A significant donation from CentraGruppen was a key contribution. Three excavators have now been purchased and are already in use.
The front lines in Ukraine are shifting, and there is a constant need to move positions. Therefore, the units require excavators and mini excavators at the front.
Mini excavators are used for both trenches and positions. Trenches provide cover and save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.
The 38th Marine Brigade, 45th Artillery Brigade, and 97th Mechanized Brigade have received the excavators.
“These are units we have supported several times with equipment and vehicles,” says Natalia Golis, Secretary General of Fritt Ukraina.
Important Support from CentraGruppen
CentraGruppen’s donation of 10 million NOK was a key contribution to financing the excavators. 600,000 NOK of the donation was used to fund approximately half of the excavator purchase.
“CentraGruppen was focused on supporting initiatives with immediate impact. Supporting excavators for the establishment of new defense lines absolutely fulfills this,” says Per Christian Johannesen, CEO of CentraGruppen. The war is in a phase where such equipment is of critical importance, he explains.
– They are also fighting our battle
In addition to providing support both through his employer and privately, Johannesen has personally participated in several of Fritt Ukraina’s transport missions.
Johannesen explains that Fritt Ukraina continuously receives requests to deliver time-sensitive equipment to the Ukrainian forces.
“We encourage other companies to also support Fritt Ukraina so that the necessary materials reach those who are defending their freedom. In many ways, they are also fighting our battle,” says Per Christian Johannesen.
