Thanks to support from Fritt Ukraina, an evacuation unit within Ukraine’s military intelligence service, HUR, has received modern equipment that enables life-saving blood transfusions directly in the field.

The equipment has been delivered through the Ukrainian organization PULSE, which provides advanced first aid and tactical medical training.
A key focus of their training is teaching frontline units how to perform blood transfusions under demanding field conditions.
The delivery includes a 56-liter blood cooler from Stream Defence, designed to maintain a stable temperature of four degrees for the safe storage of blood bags.
Additionally, MEQU blood warmers were supplied to ensure blood is heated to near-body temperature before transfusion, together with blood typing kits and other essential equipment.
For medics working daily under extreme conditions, this equipment makes it possible to begin transfusions much earlier — long before the patient reaches a hospital.
“Every such delivery means more soldiers have a chance to survive,” says PULSE.
Support from Norwegian donors makes it possible to provide life-saving equipment to those who save lives where it matters most.

PULSE – Pre-hospital focused Ukrainian Life Saving Effort
PULSE is a Ukrainian humanitarian organization that trains soldiers and military units in tactical medicine and advanced life-saving treatment.
The goal is to equip defenders with the skills and tools needed to stabilize critically wounded soldiers as early as possible — including at forward stabilization points where blood transfusions and life-saving procedures can be carried out close to the front line.

The organization teaches service members how to stop bleeding, secure airways and perform blood transfusions in the field — skills that save lives every single day.
PULSE was established with the mission of saving lives by providing free training and support to Ukraine’s defense forces. Training ranges from basic “All Service Members” level, to “Combat Lifesaver”, “Combat Medic/Corpsman”, and specialized instruction in pre-hospital blood transfusion.
PULSE works closely with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence and emergency services, and is certified as a training center by NAEMT and licensed under the international STOP THE BLEED program.
To date, PULSE has trained tens of thousands of soldiers and continues to build capacity by educating instructors and equipping evacuation and medical teams with modern equipment.

Norwegian support saves lives
Blood loss is one of the most common causes of death among wounded soldiers, and the ability to deliver blood immediately increases survival rates dramatically.
“Giving whole blood in the field saves lives,” says Frank Stålesern Rebnord of Ferno Norden, which delivered the equipment.
Whole-blood transfusion means giving untreated blood directly from a donor to a recipient. It is used primarily in cases of massive bleeding, as it provides red blood cells, platelets, and plasma all at once.
At Ferno, Rebnord works with advanced medical equipment for the defense sector and develops specialized training programs in tactical medicine. A key focus is field blood transfusion, with the aim of strengthening the capacity to save lives under difficult conditions.
“I want to use my expertise to ensure PULSE has the best tools for training. Our direct communication with recipients in Ukraine helps us procure exactly what is needed,” Rebnord adds.

The project supported by Fritt Ukraina shows how direct assistance from Norway saves lives in Ukraine. PULSE extends sincere thanks to Fritt Ukraina and the Norwegian people for their support and solidarity.
The unit receiving this equipment is an evacuation team within Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, HUR, which plays a key role in modern warfare by combining intelligence, special operations and advanced drone technology.
Fritt Ukraina supports multiple HUR units with both vehicles and equipment.
Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine and helps save lives on the front line.
